Official Dallas County Contacts

The Dallas County Sheriff’s Office and Jail Division are the primary contacts for a county-jail booking, current charge or bond information, and a Sheriff record request. Administrative office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Choose the route that matches the question rather than asking one office to interpret another agency’s system:

  • For a Dallas County booking entry or photograph, begin with the countywide arrest-record guide, then use the Sheriff’s Inmate Inquiry or law-enforcement records form.
  • For someone booked on the current date, use Arrested Today; for a wider narrative of Sheriff incidents and arrests, use Arrest Reports.
  • For custody-change or release notifications about one person, use VINE Arrest Check. IowaVINE is separate from the Sheriff app and Smart911 community alerts.
  • For a city-police incident report, contact Waukee, Perry, or Adel Police as the arresting agency. If county booking occurred, the Sheriff holds the jail-side record.
  • For a filed case, court date, or disposition, use Iowa Courts Online or the Dallas County Clerk of Court at 801 Court Street, Adel, IA 50003, 515-993-7018.
  • For a person later sentenced into Iowa’s correctional system, use the Iowa Department of Corrections Offender Search or its open-records process, not the county roster.
  • For federal prison custody, use the Federal Bureau of Prisons locator. For immigration detention, use the ICE Online Detainee Locator. Neither provides a Dallas County booking photo.

The Sheriff’s online request form covers arrest, accident, criminal, and incident reports. Dallas County accepts public-record requests online, in person, in writing, or by telephone. A clear request should name the person, approximate date, arresting agency, booking number if known, and the exact record or photograph sought. The county may redact or withhold material protected by Iowa law.
